 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old….? John 3: 3, 4a ESV

We might never fully understand the true meaning our Lord was defining to Nicodemas. Our mandate given to every one who says; “yes, I’m a Christian” involves so much more than wearing the name. I would tell two of my sons many years ago when they enlisted in the armed forces. “There’s a lot more to the responsibility than just putting on the uniform.”

The Apostle Paul shares this from Titus 3:5.
 He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.

All we’re about, is not how good we think we are, or how many ministry responsibilities we hold, or titles we wear. Above Paul speaks of three important changes of behavior and transformation that must take place.

Our need of daily cleansing involves dying to self-will for our living hope to become recognized. Peter defines it this way.
Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. 1 Peter 1:23

Our ‘daily’ washing from meditating and even memorizing God’s truth can become a delight, for daily renewal to know our Lord in a very personal and intimate relationship.

Being ‘born again,’ is a continuous regeneration process of growing and learning. Building an intimacy with our Lord is not optional to truly know Him. He brings increase as we learn to decrease!
