                                      The Free Gift

Everybody always becomes overjoyed when we receive word we have been given a free gift. That gift might be tickets to a baseball game. Maybe a letter we’ve become beneficiary to an inheritance.

Whatever the gift is, there is nothing with so much worth as the wonderful ‘free gift’ of our invitation to the marriage of Jesus. Our gift becomes our inheritance for eternity. It doesn’t wear out or will it ever end as with watching a baseball game. With this gift we’re promised many attachments as benefactors given from Royalty wearing the new name ‘Christian.’  

 We’re provided pardon from the penalty for transgressions done. Past, present, and future with this ‘Free Gift.’

Many may carry burdens too heavy to bear alone. But through fellowship with others in the ‘Family of God,’ we have new family members to help us through to victory with challenges too big for one person to take on by themselves.

Our Creator defines it this way:

“But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the effect of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brings justification. If, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:15-17 RSV
