                         Praying God’s Word is Praying God’s Promises

“Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me.” Psalm 66:5, 20 NASB

Many years past I committed to spend an hour a day, beginning each morning in prayer. Now there might be days when two hours pass; listening to the Lord speak to me.

We read from the gospel’s when our Lord would spend all night, by Himself out on the hillside listening to ‘The Father’ speak to him.

Prayer is more ‘listening’ than dialoging.

One of the reasons I desire to memorize God’s word is; I’m memorizing our Lord’s promises to me. Those promises might be blessing of favored grace, or maybe promises of admonition and correction. Either way, they’re measures of His love.

If we’re to ‘Fight the Good Fight,’ [1 Timothy 6:12a] recommended by the Apostle Paul, we’re to equip ourselves with the ‘shield of faith’ and, take the ‘sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.’ [Ephesians 6: 16, 17]

Putting on our uniform of the armor of God throughout our day, brings His resources available in time of need. Confidence to share God’s love for new life is made with better definition, when the abiding presence of God’s word [His authority] dwells in your heart. Defined as knowing His promises [word] to share when needed.  

Be challenged! To take up one’s own cross daily, by purposing a minimum of one hour less sleep each morning before your day begins, makes the difference in resolute wisdom and spiritual discernment to decisions before each day.
