OUR SURPASSING WORTH

Bible study by Robert Schaetzle

“Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8RSV

In our daily living, do we attempt to consider our achievements a loss, or secondary, to God’s authority and worthiness? How do we actually measure our surpassing worth in living daily for Christ’s honor? One might ask; what gets us going with each new day? Does the abiding presence of His Spirit motivate your actions?

Many who subscribe to wearing our Lord’s name; still feel what gets them going each morning is their caffeine fix, or a daily discipline of morning exercise. Some might feel the compulsion to the need to pushing the ‘on’ button to the TV remote.

For the working class community of our younger generation, the culture we live in today, the compulsion to ‘view’ my phone to find out… “Who texted me, or what do I have to do next?” Do we attain His ‘surpassing worth’ beginning our day with our Lord? That is to be mindful to recognize our lives are for His honor and not self?

Read: Philippians 1:12… could you elaborate ‘some circumstance’ to share what has caused you to lean on Christ more than self?

Read Philippians 1:29…What might be something of the past when suffering, whether it be physical, emotional, material loss, might have been a blessing more than a loss?

Read Philippians 2:12… walking daily‘in Christ’what might be anexperience of working through your salvation to strengthen your trust in God more than self?

Read Philippians 2:16… What’s one of your favorite memory verses and why?

Read Philippians 3:10… How is it you feel that you really ‘know Him’ and experience His power?’Maybe an experience of what Christ might have felt?

Read Philippians 3:12 What might be example of ‘pressing on’ recognizing the ‘’power of His presence’ letting go the past to take hold of Christ?
