Showing Love

Can you think of a good friend or family member that you just love doing good things for?  Maybe someone so special to you in your life, that you wish you could give more than what you do?  Have you ever had the experience of giving to a special person and watching them receive your gift with joy, in which you think to yourself, “Well-deserved!”

My mother has a birthday coming up.  The other morning, I was looking at our financial budget to confirm the maximum amount of birthday money to spend on Mom.  A guilty dullness came over me, because I wished I could spend so much more on her, maybe enough to buy a day-spa, exclusively for her.  Although light-years beyond my financial reach, I felt like that was what she deserved.  I just feel compelled to do more for her, because I love her so much.  She’s wonderful to me.

How compelled are we to give to Jesus Christ?  He's just so wonderful; can we give Him all of us -- our time, our blessings, obedience, trust, faith?  His sacrifice is truly special. The friends or family members that we love are so wonderful; however, they didn't die for us, and they're not without sin.  They cannot always, at all times, give us rest, peace, and joy, like Jesus can.  The love Jesus has for you is incomparable to the love of anyone else.  He loved us first.  Be compelled to love Him back, wishing you could love Him more!.

Doesn’t it feel good to know that you are giving in the powerful name of Jesus?  When we give to Jesus, it’s truly better to give than receive.  Our Almighty God gave us today.  In Spirit-filled anticipation, give back to Him, for “God loves a cheerful giver.” (2Corinthians9:7NKJV)
