Utterly Astounded

1. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)

2. “Look among the nations and watch – be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you.” Habakkuk 1:5 (NKJV)

During an early morning devotional time, i asked the Lord what He would have me read. He said, “Habakkuk.”

i replied, “Habakkuk?! What could possibly be in Habakkuk?!”

“Just open and begin to read,” He replied.

The first verse that stood out is listed number one here. It mentions the earth being filled with the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas. Think about that for a minute. Is there any place in the seas where the water does not cover it? Isn’t that one reason we call vast amounts of water, seas? If there is a sea, then there has to be water. In other words, His glory will be everywhere!

The next morning, i asked the same question. “What do you want me to read?” His reply was the same.

This time i backed up to the beginning of Habakkuk (listed as number two) and ruminated on the works that He will do. What type of work would be totally awesome from our God? What would make us stand in amazement at the wonder of it all? Well, how about His glory filling the land? That would do it! A glory that we have never known. Not just a feeling that passes with time, but a total engulfment of His marvelous presence. Oh, that He would astound us with His works and that we would be ready to see them!

i am not sure about you, but that would make me stand in awe. Or kneel down …

Blessings!!
