Devotionals
How many times do we easily conclude a task feeling inept and unsatisfied with the overall performance? Paul says we are to strive to obtain our goal. Instead we ignorantly capitulate. In doing so, we not only let others down, but in our heart of hearts we have ultimately restricted ourselves.
“I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14) ASV
In complete surrender I have once again decided to take a step back and regroup. I need to make sure that my objectives are His objectives; in that my goals not only belong to me, but are His goals for my life. What is the high calling of God in Christ Jesus? It is a sense of accomplishment in knowing you have run the race well. It is the ultimate conclusion of a spirit-led life.
Perhaps you have found yourself as I have at times, depleting in fervency and a derelict in obtaining your life’s goal. How does such a thing happen? When we lose focus on the imminent prize. Oh and this just isn’t any prize! This is our ultimate purpose in life; to live not for ourselves, but for the One who has given us purpose. The high calling of God is that we all do what God has specifically designed us to do. Not what we think others have expected from us, but to move into the direction in which we know He is calling. The ultimate call is to live a life worthy of being in His presence when we have finished the race.
What is the goal for your life today? Does it measure up with the calling God has for you? You will never be satisfied until your course is set in His direction. It is time to relinquish the helm of your life my friend. Many of us spend a good part of our natural days maneuvering ourselves into a direction that God never intended us to go. This leaves us unfulfilled, frustrated and defeated. When we release the hold we have on our life to God, He will take us through uncharted journeys and new dimensions. We will find ourselves anticipating the prize before us. Approaching the goal we begin to rejoice in His perfect leading and most capable hand.
