Seeing the Enemy
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might
destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John3:8 (NKJV)
In the past four weeks, i have either seen first hand, or heard of, four different accounts concerning the demonic. i will not go into detail here, because it would make this writing rather long, but each was definitely real. Those affected ranged from a one year old child all the way to some adults.
We are just too close to Halloween, some might say. But as i see it, there are two possibilities of why we were able to see the manifestations of the enemy. One would be that he is trying to reveal himself so that we live in fear, attempting to flex his muscles. But knowing that he would rather hide than be discovered, that reason seems unlikely.
So, let’s move to number two. Maybe the Lord is allowing us to see our enemy so that we can walk in the power of 1 John3:8. The original Greek translation of “destroy” means “undo”. Friends, the Son of God came to smash strongholds and kingdoms which have been erected against His name, but He also wants to unwind and restore that which has been hidden.
Think of a ball of string, with its many strands that have been tightly wound around something at the core. Years and years of wrapping and binding have been practiced so that what is inside cannot get out. Yet, when the Son of God appeared He first took the ball of string from the hands of the enemy. Then He began to unwind all the years of sin from our lives, so we are totally free. That which has never been seen before suddenly becomes visible as His grace flows through the core. The enemy, who formerly had us tied up in knots, is bound himself by the same string which held us captive.
That is what Jesus came to do – set us free! Not just a strand or two, but a total unraveling of the enemies plan for our lives.
Glory to God and Praise to Jesus!!
May we all have a new sense of His freedom!
