Since the United State Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, it could mean financial disaster or a compromising of Christian beliefs for the 29,000 religious pre-schools, grade schools, and high schools in America. Any of these institutions as well as other faith-based ministries or charitable organizations receiving federal aid would be required to hire gays and transsexuals. That is what some people are saying, but of course, it remains to be seen. Mat Stover, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel said, "This is another example of the Obama administration's hostility toward people of faith and biblical values."

This decision could affect adoption services, youth centers, child care and development programs, youth counseling, shelters, and other programs that help the poor and needy. According to Austin Ruse, president of the Center For Family and Human Rights, "Many religious groups will have no choice but to forego government funding and perhaps close their doors permanently."

How are Christians responding to all of this? Over 40,000 pastors and church leaders have signed a pledge to stand for traditional marriage even it it means paying a "fine or jail time." Yes, you read that right, in the United State of America, the land of the free???? Seventy leaders in Christian education recently sent a letter to Mitch McConnell and house speaker John Boehner, asking them to propose legislation that would exempt Christian schools from the requirements of the Supreme Court decision.

Senator Miike Lee recently re-filed a bill under a different name and with slight modification of wording, entitled, "First Amendment Defense Act." Forcing institutions to believe a certain way or suffer the consequences is in his words,"incompatible with our laws...who we are as a people...and with our constitution."

Jerry Johnson, of the National Religious Broadcasters, has voiced concern about radio stations losing their licenses.

City clerks all across the nation are beginning to resign from their jobs in city government because they refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

None of this would be happening if the U.S. Government and the Supreme Court abided by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act signed in 1993. It is also reported that Obama promised in 2013 that government would not force institutions to bow to a particular belief.

Well, times have changed. We now live in an era of lawlessness that the Bible prophecies in Matthew 24:12, and it is being used as a vehicle in an attempt to silence believers. Christians must get prepared. Some Christian leaders are even calling for peaceful demonstrations and disobedience. Never did we think until the past year or so that in the United States of America, Christians would be persecuted, taken to court, and possibly even face jail time, just for taking a stand for their beliefs. It is here. The only question now is, "How will you as a Christian respond to it?"
