tears sting her eyes as she holds the ashes
no one should ever know the pain
losing a child is beyond description
the noise of crashing waves can’t stop
the sound of her daughter’s cries
a man on his knees looks out to the ocean
the white caps rolling toward the shore
his wife of fifty years suddenly—gone
he misses her so much he can’t breathe
a white puddle of sea circles his body
he closes his eyes and sees her face
a young girl walks into the angry ocean
an empty bottle of pills in her hand
she thought he loved her but it wasn’t so
he used her for his pleasure nothing more
she doesn’t know a life is inside her yet
the ocean washes over her head

the mom looks out to a placid sea
sitting on the deck surrounded by family
they laugh and enjoy their breakfast
talking about their future plans
the sound of seagulls intermingle
with their own sounds of glee
a man sitting in his boat on a calm sea
looks at the engagement ring and smiles
he has it all planned and can hardly wait
for the woman of his dreams to say yes
the sun dances on the deep blue sea
and it reminds him of her beautiful eyes
a young girl poses in front of the lovely ocean
in her pink lace prom dress
her beau slips a corsage on her arm
they smile and look into each others' eyes
making memories that will last a lifetime
a dove lands nearby the tranquil sea
