I could just take the risk,
Of living without God,
Put myself right out there,
Like a human lightning rod.

I could just forget the need,
God’s infinite protection,
But I would surely perish,
Without His pure affection.

I could just forget to pray,
Or thank God for my life,
But things would go awry,
With travesty and strife.

I could just leave the house,
And put God to the test,
Throw caution to the wind,
Laugh at all the rest.

I could just turn my back,
Let come what may just come,
Never mind what He will think,
Too little, much, or some.

I could just trust the odds,
Be without His blessing,
Ignore His infinite grace,
Keep my future guessing.

I could just leave Him behind,
And walk that lonely road,
Paved with good intentions,
Let Satan lift my load.

I could just take up old habits,
Back to that life of sin,
The one that left me crying,
And dying once again.

I could just live by my rules,
Forgetting wrong from right,
I could just do all these things.
And chance to die tonight.
