I’ve had a many a friendship
Of kind that was so dear to me,
I felt a sense of kinship.
I ‘ve had good friends from work and church
And from the neighborhood,
And even those I can recall
From early days of childhood.
I’ve been by some misunderstood,
By others been betrayed.
Their faithfulness I’d counted on
Was only a charade.
Some friends are mere acquaintances.
We only smile and greet
And discourse superficially
At any time we meet.
Companions with same interests—
We’re like “birds of a feather.”
We laugh and talk and have great fun
Whenever we’re together.
With some folks I have forged a bond,
A friendship strong, unmoved.
They’re in possession of my dreams.
Their faithfulness they’ve proved.
One I hold dear in memory,
A warrior, she, in prayer.
Familiar with the throne of God,
My needs she carried there.
The friends that are the closest ones
Are in my family.
Like golden coins within my heart,
They, treasures are to me.
Yet I’ve one Friend who is the best.
He died for me—it’s true.
He’s not betrayed nor ever will,
No matter what I do.
He knows my words before I speak.
He shares my joys, my sorrows.
He knitted me within the womb
And sees all my tomorrows.
My Savior daily walks with me.
My heart, He fills with peace.
His friendship is beyond compare.
His love will never cease.

There were one or two lines that I stumbled over, but it was probably more me than the writing, since I got interrupted twice in the middle of reading it.
Overall I thought this was a very pleasant read and painted a nice word picture.
