quietly we sway
hugging and snuggling tight,
as the sun lazily stirs-up
a blush of dawn
to caress us
with its morning light.
And as you gaze at me
so longingly
with your soul-reaching eyes,
my spirit stirs with such a depth
of thankfulness—
what wondrous blessings
God supplies!
And I giggle
as you passionately
and with frisky fun,
taste every sticky trace
of breakfast’s maple syrup
on my fingers
one—by— one.
Oh, how you provoke me
with your unashamed abandon
such a gift from above
without words—just your presence,
your unfailing faithfulness,
stirs me to new depths
of unconditional love.
Even the sweet melody of birdsong
doesn’t arouse my heart as you do!
You and I, we’ll go the distance
stirring the pot of life side by side.
And I whisper my love to you and tousle your hair
as I assure you...
you’re the sweetest doggie in existence!
