Sleep from the night still in my eyes,
My private meditation with my Lord,
Gentles my soul, word after word.
Soft, low utterance to my ears,
Sweetens my heart and calms my fears,
His love reaches deep into my being,
I close my eyes, to look without seeing.
In this special time, my senses are filled,
His truth comes alive, lies are killed,
My spirit rises to greet His commands,
I place my life in His mighty hands.
Prayers are petitioned for family and friends,
Forgiveness is sought for my mortal sins,
Love intertwines from my soul to His,
No finer moments can come from this.
My time with God in this finest hour,
Lifts me up high and gives me power,
Tensions release from yesterday’s loss,
Heavenly smiles on my face come across.
Tears flood my eyes like fresh new rain,
Remembering His promise, forgetting the pain,
Finally, I rise so to fall on my knees,
Certain that Christ will hear my pleas.
Within this hour I spend in deep prayer,
I feel such a healing, layer by layer,
Renewed by a power greater than any,
Blessings bestowed are more than many.
With strong conviction, I rise to my feet,
Sure in my steps when trials I meet,
A light is shining throughout the day,
My Lord’s by my side, there’s no other way.
