Surrounded by chaos,
Burdens to bear,
Hearts filled with anguish,
Souls with despair.
Feeling so helpless,
What can I do?
Seems I do nothing,
Just fret and stew.
Roll up my sleeves
And rush to the fray?
But sometimes my efforts
Just get in the way.
What's the best choice,
Do I work or I pray?
Prayer feels so little,
Just what do I say?
Seems only worthwhile
If I can see
Hands getting dirty,
Yet faith is the key.
God brings the power
As I lean on Him,
My efforts worth nothing
'Til filled to the brim.
"By grace through faith",
Just like salvation,
My work lies useless
Without this foundation.
Nothing accomplished
By my effort alone,
Equipped through His Spirit
Lest I boast in my own.
Prayer not in effort,
But faith in God's pow'r,
Releasing His weapons
Hour by hour.
All about faith,
Nothing of works,
God gets the credit
And I'm just His "clerk".
Faith in His power,
Will bring consolation,
And miracles wrought
To earth's devastation.
Works the proof
Of real salvation,
Faith at the root...

James 2:18-24 (ESV)
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
