We are individualistic, but our numbers are what make us strong. Our motto - There Is No Height Too High, Nor Depth Too Low That We Cannot Conquer - was born out of millennia of strife. Many times it looked ominous; our numbers dwindled. Many times we smelled the scent of death and tasted its acrid morsel. Yet, we pressed on – and multiplied.
Through the ages we have persevered and found a way passed the ambush and the snare. With no weapons to yield, we learned to fight back with persistence and had our revenge in unknown deceitful ways. They often knew not that we had been about, or that we lurked in hidden places, leaving unwanted gifts along the way.
On their beds of illness, superstition led them to caste blame on the Jews. Others said a foul smelling wind had blown in death. We knew that it was our most strategic alliance yet that allowed us our revenge, and afforded us the means to perpetuate our kind. Our little companions joined our ranks and spread contagion like a wave that overtook the world in the Middle Ages.
We survived the sinking of ships, tidal waves and hurricanes. A tragedy for others became our bounty as we fed on the carrion. Through decades and centuries, through ages and eras, they could not stop us.
We won’t take no for an answer and there will always be a remnant of us to carry on. We are bold. We are bad. We’ll always be back.
Unless someone turns on the kitchen light.

Cockroaches? I never would have guessed where this was leading to. Unless I'm missing something, clearly this was a powerful tongue and cheek entry, with an hysterical ending. Oh my gosh, this was ( I never thought I would be so enthralled with an entry about roaches) brilliant in all ways...backward and forward and beyond!
Excellent!!!
God bless~
A nice tongue in cheek approach, with a great rug-puller to wrap it up.
I loved your entry, thought it was a fantastic and brilliant read.
JK's take on it was a bit of genius as well...another way of looking at it.
That's what makes a great story when there are numerous scenarios, and each one more interesting that the last.
Well done!
God Bless~
