Our roses will live forever;
It hurts to watch them die away,
When I have given each my heart.
Each year the summer days fly past,
Each year I wish they’d linger longer;
But changes are a part of life,
And even bliss must sleep sometimes.
In autumn days we watch the leaves fall;
They fall like pieces of our hearts.
We watch each change its hue in flames,
Our pain increases as each dies.
In autumn days we build our fires
To somehow keep the cold at bay,
But all our walls can’t keep it out,
For bliss will sleep the night away.
In winter days we dream of summer,
And wish our roses will bloom again,
But all our dreaming can’t bring life,
Nor can it close the door on death.
In winter days the snow drifts down,
As we are pining for the sun;
We find there’s peace amid the pain,
A touch divine in winter days.
The summer days are wonderful,
But when our bliss is slumbering
God still is with us in the night,
With gentle kisses in the snowflakes.
