(2 Kings 6:8-23)
Come, stand with me,
Come, stand with me,
And tell me, friend,
What can you see?
...
I see cascades of army tiers,
The gleaming blades of glistening spears,
A heaving mass of strength and might
Arrayed in armour, polished bright.
Shields held aloft with warning threat,
Eyes steely firm, brows wet with sweat.
The charioteer, with menace stands,
Reins, at the ready, in his hands.
Great chargers champ and gnaw the bit,
Harnessed to mighty chariot,
Row upon row of man and horse,
A circling, mocking army force.
What can I see? My eyes of fear
Just see disaster looming near.
O master, do they come for you?
O master, please, what shall we do?
LORD, OPEN NOW MY SERVANT’S EYES
Come, stand with me,
Come, stand with me,
And tell me, now
What can you see?
...
God’s messengers I see, I see,
Despatched from Heaven at His decree.
Have Heaven’s curtains opened wide
So mortal men can look inside
And see God’s host, too great to count,
Encircle us from towering mount?
They shine, they burn, with fiery light,
Horses of flame and chariots bright,
Waiting and ready to fulfil
The ways of God, His sovereign Will.
And man, oblivious, plans his course
To pit his strength ‘gainst such a force.
What can I see? With unscaled eyes
I see God’s Glory fill the skies.
O master, I did not conceive
That God was here. Now I believe.
MY CHILD, OPEN YOUR EYES
Come, stand with me,
Come, stand with me,
Tell me, my child,
What can you see?
...
I see a world that cries with pain,
I see that darkness seems to reign.
Sometimes o’erwhelmed with sorrow’s grief
My eyes are closed with unbelief.
Then, from the vantage of your side,
I view the cross on which you died.
I see compassion, love and grace,
I see you dying in my place.
I see your conquering power to save,
I see your victory o’er the grave.
Then with fresh eyes my heart is stirred
By every promise of your Word.
Lord, hear my prayer, my tears and sighs
To view this world as through your eyes,
And live for you until I see
Your face, for all eternity.

"And man, oblivious, plans his course"
From the second section ... I'd have to say the whole thing! I loved the comparison you gave with us today, and Elisha then. A wonderful take on the topic! I, too, hope this places high :)
