“This soul is mine!”
A hiss as foul as death
rehearsed the words so often spat through breath
that slid through lips now whetted for the taste
of one more soul to add to hell’s vast plate.
“This soul is MINE!”
The Serpent’s nostrils flared
and drew the scent of human weakness snared.
Enraptured by the bliss of captured prey,
scaled eyelids trembled in vile ecstacy.
“You shall NOT touch this soul!”
God’s Great Voice came,
and all creation fell before the Name
that flowed from Heaven’s Holy Sacred Lips.
The Father spoke the Name, His Son, “JESUS!”
Great Thunder stronger than the lion’s roar
and Lightning sharper than all loosed before
rose suddenly from depths of earth and Heaven
engulfing all Creator God had given.
All planets, stars, the sun with moon and comets
shook in their God drawn paths of circling orbits.
“You shall NOT touch this soul!” the echo rang
as “JESUS” filled creation’s realm again.
The serpent in a piteous, stubborn whine
writhed in the whispers of his dying “mine”
and struggling to regain his odorous breath
in utter shame crawled into hell’s dark nest.
The damaged soul that lay in sin’s dread grasp
still lay in utter helplessness collapsed.
It shuddered in its lack of wealth or worth
and felt no home in Heaven nor on earth.
But then this Soul through tears and pleading eyes
saw Jesus’ form kneel from the trembling skies,
and lovingly it felt His sweet embrace
and looked upon the Savior’s smiling Face.
How can this be? The soul could not take in
how such a Love it felt now could be given.
But Jesus heard the thought and bent to speak,
“I took your place that day on Calvary.”
These precious words held cleansing as the soul
embraced the Savior who could make it whole.
“My Child,” Christ said, “come rest, and choose this day
to evermore be Mine and with Me stay.”
“I will! I do! I, in Your Love complete,
Lay now my very being at Your Feet!”
Then all creation in sweet God Light chimed
as Father, Son, and Spirit sang,
“This Soul is MINE!”
"But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me." Psalms 49:15 KJV
