Though God desires to give us joy
The evil one plots disasters
His only purpose--to destroy
Psalm 119:114 (NKJV) Your are my refuge. . .Your word is my only source of hope.
For those battling a dread disease
From where do they find resolve
Like the inmate’s address--death row
With whom should they get involved
Psalm 5:2 (NLT) O Lord, hear me as I pray;. . .listen to my cry for help. . .
For the abandoned child or wife abused
Is there a safe somewhere to flee
Who will come and rescue them
Will someone hear their anxious plea
Psalm 46:1 (NKJV) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
For those who have suffered loss
to the point of dark despair
Suicidal thoughts are tempting,
Their pain’s too much to bear
Psalm 40:2 (NLT) He lifted me out of the pit of despair. . .
For friendless loners of this world
whose lives love hasn’t touched
Have shriveled hearts betrayed them
to never hope or want for much
Psalm 34:18 (NLT) The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those who are crushed in spirit.
For the womb remaining empty
despite the mother’s prayers,
Why continue asking, pleading--
Give up? She doesn’t dare.
Psalm 31:7 (NLT) I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.
For all those weary from struggles
drained to the point of utter exhaust,
Relations, debts, emotional dearth
Fatigued--they just want what’s lost
Matthew 11:28 (NIV) Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
