A festival of taste
The table set with sumptuous food
And name cards carefully placed
The guest list filled with A list stars
The rich and famous kind
With straight white teeth and dazzling smiles
The “best” of all mankind
The meal was set, the call went out
“Come, guests – it’s time to eat”
And paparazzi hung about
To snap the crowd elite
The first excuse, delivered by
A beeping mobile phone
“I cannot come, a photo shoot
Promoting my cologne!”
Another called, “My agent’s phoned
To break the happy news
As guest on Oprah, don’t you know?
To freely air my views.”
Another cancellation came
“A once and only chance
To live with strangers in a house
My image to enhance…”
The certain man became quite cross
The paparazzi – bored
The caviar and peking duck
Were blatently ingored
“Go quickly,” said the certain man,
“Through every town and street
Invite them all, the poor, the blind
On twitter freely tweet.”
From very nook and cranny came
The lost, the lame, the least
They ate, they drank, they talked, they laughed
And all enjoyed the feast
They tasted food from far and wide
A meal but fit for kings
And took home bags of goodies filled
With gold and shiny things
“I tell you true, I speak no lie,”
The certain man declared
“Not one of those, I asked to come
Will taste what I’ve prepared!”
The King of Heaven hosts a feast
With invitations sent
Be not consumed with petty aims
And miss this great event!

I knew what this was about from the first line, but still really enjoyed it.
I loved the excuses they gave. :)
