"Shhhh... Quiet. I can't let my brother know I'm here," Shem whispered.
"98, 99, 100. Ready or not, here I come," Japheth's voice rang from the other end of the ark. I'll find you two. And Shem, you'd better not be hiding with the tigers again, because I will NOT come to get you, and I will NOT be held responsible if she tears you limb from limb."
Don't worry, Shem thought. I tried that once, and I don't intend to do it ever again... In fact, I don't intend to go anywhere near that horrid animal again. Shem shuddered involuntary as he recalled the tiger's sharp teeth inches from his face. He ran out screaming like a girl. Not his best hide and seek moment. The tigers were normally pretty calm. Besides, how was he supposed to know that the new tiger cub was trapped behind him?
This time, he chose a safer animal. One he knew didn't have any offspring to care for. The horses liked him.
Noah walked into the stall, and Shem let out a yelp as Noah stepped on his hand. "Son, what on the water covered earth are you doing?"
"Hiding," he said quietly.
"Again? Honestly, aren't you boys a bit old for Hide and Seek?" Noah asked.
"Well, there's not exactly much else to do for fun," Shem pointed out. "Now if you'd please be quite and pretend you never saw me in here, I'd be grateful. Thanks, Dad."
Noah walked out, shaking his head in amusement, as his wife walked out from around the corner. "They never grow up, Noah. You of all people should know this. If I do recall, it was your idea to play Duck, Duck, Goose with the real things running around.
Japheth came closer, giving a running commentary of his seeking. "Maybe I should look in the monkey pen. After all, either of you would blend in just find. I probably won't be able to tell the difference.... No wait. Yes I would. The monkeys are smarter. Sorry if I offended you," he said, bowing towards to monkeys.
Japheth walked into Shem's line of sight, looking around for his brothers. Just then the horse lifted its tail. Shem shook his head, making hand gestures and mouthing the word "No!" repeatedly, in a futile effort to stop the incoming... or, rather, outgoing, load of fertilizer. Shem couldn't hide his disgust any longer. "Ewwww!"
Japheth turned around quickly. "Found you, Shem!" He turned to the horse. "Thanks, Gninthgil. Impeccable timing."
Shem looked from Japheth to the horse. "Yeah, impeccable timing indeed." He turned back to his brother. "Have you found Ham yet?"
"Nope. I've looked just about everywhere."
"Hmmm....," Shem pondered, stroking his chin. "You've looked with the sheep?"
"Check," Japheth confirmed.
"Cows?"
"Check."
"Goats, rabbits, birds, and t-rex?"
"Check, check, check, and you've got to be kidding me."
"Roosters?" Shem continued.
"Check."
"Duck, duck, goose?"
slap
Sehm rubbed the back of his head. "Owww!"
The brothers stood together for a moment, thinking. "Hey," Shem began. "You don't think Ham is...."
They looked at each other and came to the same conclusion. "Nah...."
"Too obvious," Japheth continued.
Just then, a horrendous squeal filled the ark.
Shem and Japheth ran towards the sound, followed closely by the rest of the family. They arrived at the pen to find Ham desperately trying to calm a... disgruntled pig.
Ham's wife looked at her husband. "Come on, Ham. How much more obvious can you get? Ham hiding with the pigs?"
Japheth's wife got in on the banter. "Hey, at least his name isn't Aram."
Ham shrugged his shoulders as he stood up, picking hay out of his tunic. "Well, one thing I will say. Life on the ark is never boar-ing."
With a shake of their heads and a flip of their hands, the rest of the family members walked off, leaving Ham to contemplate a better hiding place. One where a simple pull of a tail wouldn't make his presence instantly known.

Love the title and the play on words, and it's true: boys will still be boys no matter how old they are.
Good work.
