Brought revolution to the press;
They championed for liberty
And gave a voice to the oppressed.
A megaphone for little voices,
The Press cast passion far and wide;
Freedom, born as a shapeless dream,
Became a vision magnified.
The thoughts of normal men and women
Took form as swords upon a page;
Now look where all their visions brought us,
Because of them the world was changed.
Today the tabloids broadcast lies,
And fling manure across the States;
The innocent are pulverized,
Our passions tainted black with hate.
The Press became the queen of pawns,
To strike for power in our games;
What changed the world for good before
Became the weapon of our shame.
But if a little voice stands up
And shouts for truth upon a stage,
We might see a revolution sparked,
Then through our dreams the world will change.
