Sometimes I envy the guy. Well, at least before the fall anyways. Think about him for a moment. The dude was formed from the dust of the ground. He didn’t have to worry about pesky relatives hitting him up for cash. In fact, the guy didn’t have to worry about cash at all. He was dropped into a garden utopia that would probably make even Bill Gates jealous. No mortgage, and no debts to pay off. All day long, Adam got to skip around the garden in his birthday suit giving interesting names to animals such as “Duck Billed Platypus” and “Echidna.” Everything in his garden was organic, so it was like having his own personal Whole Foods grocery store, where he could stuff his face with free, all-you-can-eat produce.
However, the thing that makes me most envious of Adam is how easy it was for him to find the perfect woman. All the guy had to do was take a nap and give up a rib. Next thing you know…BAM! There stands Eve, the perfect woman for him! Of course, we all know of the disaster that takes place next, but for the sake of my rant, I won’t go there. Let’s just say that I wonder what it would be like if Adam tried to fend for himself in today’s brutal world of relationships. What if there wasn’t just Eve standing there. What if he also had Veronica, Stephanie, Julia, and about a hundred thousand other women frolicking around the garden? It would be hard to figure out which one was the right match for him, wouldn’t it? And to top it off, what if he wasn’t the only man on Earth? What if he had competition from thousands of other males who were also vying for these ladies’ attention? That would also raise the pressure. I don’t know if the good old boy could handle taking a step into the 21st century…into MY world.
The first time that he got rejected because his looks weren’t good enough or his personality not compatible, would he totally freak out and want to give up? Would he be crushed when the person that he cares for decides that she just “wants to be friends?” Would he put up a wall to his heart that would prevent him from ever being able to find the true love that he longs for?
Perhaps he would choose to participate in the club scene, thinking it to be an ideal place to meet a nice girl. Only after coming up empty handed would he realize that church would be a much better place to look. Of course, if his church is small or lacks a significant number of dedicated Christian females, then where would he turn? I guess he could always try online matchmaking. It works for some people, but again, he may come up empty handed in the process. He might be tempted to just “settle” for any girl who comes his way, regardless of her moral standards. He might find himself tempted to engage in inappropriate activities with women before marriage, working hard to keep his purity intact. Loneliness might set in, causing him to feel like he will never have a family.
He would see that finding a wife in today’s world is a million time harder than just waking up and seeing her standing there. One thing would remain the same though. Eve would still be the woman that God created for Adam. She would be out there somewhere waiting, on her knees, crying out to God with the same plea as her future husband. “Please Lord! Send a helper suitable for me!” Both would be required to learn patience while waiting on God and His perfect timing.
One would hope that they would totally commit themselves to serving God as Christian singles while they waited. Establishing a close-knit relationship with their Heavenly Father would play a vital role in keeping their union intact once it became established. Patience and prayer would become staples in their lives, as they walked by faith, trusting that God would grant them the desires of their hearts.
For all of the Adams and Eves out there waiting, be strong and hang on to God. Build yourself up in the Lord, so that when He does finally send you a mate, you will be ready to welcome that person with open arms and be the loving companion that God has called you to be.

i was giggling through the beginning on how great Adam did have it..
Then it turned into reality. We do feel like that sometimes... giving up, looking in all the wrong places.. but the key IS patience.
i love your work!
