And the next minute I'm lying on a concrete floor.
"She must have fainted," I hear someone say,
Then I pick myself up mumbling, "I'm okay."
I smile to myself as I look down at my hand
Still clutching the ticket to a million grand!
I'd been watching the Drawing on the store's TV,
And the numbers matched my ticket to a "T".
"I Won! I Won!" I shout aloud
As I show my ticket to a cheering crowd.
That night I Headline the Prime Time News
And get my first lesson in the "Family Tree Blues."
Just like the old lady who lived in a shoe,
I had so many cousins, I didn't know what to do!
I had wall-to-wall cousins claiming to be
Some long, lost cousin from the 'Ole Family Tree'.
Cousins by the dozens knocked on my door,
And most I didn't know, or ever heard of before.
"Lord, please help me, I'm being driven insane
By troubles and deception, and deep mental pain.
"This cousin nightmare, please make it cease,
And return to me solace, contentment and peace.
My riches have brought me nothing but grief,
And my sanity is deteriorating like a fallen leaf.
"Lord, take my money and those guests in my house,
And leave me as poor as the little church mouse.
I thank You in advance, Lord, for hearing me out...
And now I'll have peace, both within and without.
Amen...
