Whatís Cooking with You?

What are you cooking in your life,
Seasoning joy or seeds of strife?
Do you cook up deceit and lies
Of selfishness and plans unwise
As Jacob did his fatherís meal,
His brotherís birthright then to steal?

Is your boiling point so low
That it makes your top to blow?
Does your anger start to steam?
Do you almost want to scream?
Can hurt feelings in you stew
Till you scarce know what to do?

Or do you bake with confidence
The bread of faith in fullest sense
Of Godís good graces to supply
All that you need to satisfy?
Thus did the widowís flour and oil
Provide food for Elijahís toil.

Do you prepare and blend with love
To show the heart of God above?
So did the Savior once display
His Fatherís love a special way.
He cooked a dinner by the sea
And served it with humility.

Lovely--good job with both rhythm and rhyme, and a wonderful message.

This is very good. Great message, good meter and rhyme. I enjoyed it.

Your use of aa,bb,cc, ryhming in each stanza kept the poem flowing so it rolled off my lips as I read. The poem was musicical to the ear.

So many good thoughts in such a small space! Your poetry always has such great messsages...and always On Target, topic-wise. Loved this one! It flowed beautifully. Good Job!
