Mommas dying,
Grown men vying,
For a spot,
On top of the rot.
Total calamity,
Took an entire family,
Houses as kindling wood.
Pray if I could,
Which way to run?
Everyone is numb,
Eyes so blank,
As though all dreams sank,
In the flood.
Someone’s life’s blood,
Untold treasures lost,
Who can count the cost?
How do you cope?
Where is the hope?
As far as you can see,
Nothing, not even a tree.
As the water recedes,
You must concede,
As it was in Noah’s day.
No matter what we say,
It will begin again.
Even when the spirit wanes,
Look for the signs,
The sun will shine.
On the hill over there,
Flowers, wildflowers flare,
Their glorious colors array,
It’s a brand new day.
Birds chirping on a limb,
Wonder who kept them?
Not nature but nurture,
Man created to have a future.
As the evil one took a nod,
We still believe, “In the Beginning God.”

-is that a word?- reminder that there is nothing new under the sun. Even trial and hardship have been weatehred and triumphed over. The flowers remember what man forgets within his pain and suffering.
Nicely written. Good rhythm and expression.
