Topic: Expect (07/11/13)
My time has ran out
I cannot find my way.
Trying to find a prayer or two
but don't know what to say.

The soul I'm in is dirty
I can't keep it clean.
I don't know who God is
I think He's just a dream.

They talk about this heaven
with it's streets of gold.
In the book, the Bible
who's pages are so old.

I expect there'll be some angles.
To sing in harmony.
With voices so full of love
it's there for you and me.

But I don't deserve it
because my soul's not pure.
If I could only find this God
my salvation would endure.

I stumble through the darkness
that I call my life.
Devoured by the sins I'm in
in this pain and strife.

How am I to make it
when I have lost my way.
They say ask for forgiveness
but not what to say.

I expect I'll never find Him
my heart is full of pain.
My tears fill all of my being
they fall down like the rain.

But it finally happen
God lifts my spirit up.
drawing me by His side
I drink from the eternal cup.

The peace of understanding.
Gives quiet to my soul.
brings me to a place of rest
God's touch has made me whole.

This was a really good poem with so many descriptive images, it is jarring and moving at once. Nicely done. This was truly beautiful.

This is a powerful piece. My heart hurt for the MC as I read, I could relate, having had similar thoughts myself. I noticed some tiny things like angles when I think you meant angels. Punctuation can be a style choice in poems, but sometimes after using a period you start the next sentence with a cap letter and sometimes a lowercase. Those are tiny things though and what really matters is how you touched my heart. I found goose bumps popping out as I read. You did an excellent job.
