Sacred Meeting

Twice each month, we meet in our homes,
there gather in small groups to pray,
discuss the word, its meaning in life.
Each one who needs lifted up to God,
be it inward hurt, illness or strife,
shares a story from the heart, the only way..

A young mother about to lose all hope,
with two children to care for, can she hang on?
A mother of grown children sheds a tear,
worries that their little ones may go astray.
Medical diagnosis of one held dear
will be revealed before tomorrow’s dawn.

We read scripture germane to each request,
discuss ways to cope, include, “go to God.”
If anyone has a need, His arms are open wide,
go now while He awaits, tell Him of your pain.
He will calm your fears, as He can turn the tide.
Trust Him for He’s walked upon this sod.

Before we close, hands are joined in prayer,
each one may pray, or not, as He may lead.
Then hugs and blessings are shared all around,
some tears, some laughter as we depart.
Our time was precious, I pray let joy abound,
as we ask our Lord to care for every need.

I like the unique rhyme scheme and structure of this poem.

This piece "captured" the essence of a home group very well. You make the group sound so safe and inviting. Good job.
