Zest is said to be a strong flavor, citrusy in nature. When added to a cold drink, it produces a unique blend that ignites your palate and invokes a smooth rich texture in your mouth, thereby leaving you with an exhilarating, delightful, and refreshing feeling.
Zest is zeal; it is also said to be a very high form of energy and enthusiasm.
When I think of the definitions of the word zest, my mind automatically takes me in the direction of the sweetest person I know. He’s the mighty, the incomparable, and the incarnate: none other than the Holy Spirit himself. The Holy Spirit possesses these attributes, and He knows when and how to use them to fulfill a particular desire.
When I think of the zest of a citrus fruit, I reflect upon the best of the best: the Holy Spirit; He’s the fruit of the spirit after all.
Let us look at drinking a tall, cold glass of lemonade on a hot scorching summer day, and what it does for you. Lemonade is very refreshing. It quenches your thirst, and it boosts your energy.
Why is this?
The heat tends to deplete the body of fluids upon exertion, bringing about a dryness of mouth; this is a sign of dehydration. The sourness of the lemon in the water acts as a stimulant, activating your salivary glands and watering your mouth with saliva. It counteracts the feeling of dryness, hydrating your body and leaving you with the distinct impression of feeling refreshed. Add a little sugar⎯a major source of energy—and can you say “yummy in my tummy”? That’s lemonade. As the saying goes, it’s “good to the last drop.”
Lemonade is a great refresher, but the Holy Spirit is even a greater refresher. Lemonade provides a temporary fix, but the Holy Spirit fixes you permanently. You will run out of ingredients with which to make the lemonade, but you can never run out of the Holy Spirit. There has to be money transaction for lemonade. Not so with the Holy Spirit; He is FREE.
He is refreshing and has a unique flavor all of his own; He’s au naturel. You can drink of Him all day long and you will not get sick of his sweetness. As a matter of fact, His sweetness brings healing, restoration, joy, laughter, strength, abundance, and power.
The Holy Spirit is the highest and purest form of energy there is. There is nothing to add or take away. He is inspiring, phenomenal, and awesome. He’s the epitome of zeal—the ultimate thirst quencher. He can cool you down and heat you up. He’s exciting, powerful, and delightful. He’s the best nutritional drink on the planet.
If I were to rate the Holy Spirit, I would have to say He’s off the charts. Give me a good dose of the Holy Spirit anytime. I thirst for Him always, and He never disappoints. He always quenches my thirst.
I invite you to take a drink today and see for yourself. Just say, “Yes, I accept.”

One thing you said was very true. The Holy Spirit is free. He is free gift that is given to each believer when he/she is baptized for the forgiveness of their sin. Acts 2:38
He is to live within us and guide us.
Thank you!
