After living with a controlling person I became hardheaded and stubborn as a mule, and it has taken years before I finally let my friend into my heart. I did most of the talking and he listened. He never pushed me. And he didn’t judge me like others had. He was so patient. He never got upset or annoyed when I stammered and became flustered. He was so sympathetic towards my suffering.
I now talk to him about everything. I hold nothing back. He was tempted with every conceivable temptation known to man, but he resisted them and did not sin. Because I’m a sinner, when I stumble and fall into temptation I know he still loves me. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe him. His love is higher then the highest heaven, and deeper than the deepest ocean. It has no beginning and no end. His love encompasses me. It covers a multitude of sin.
The only thing that saddens me is the fact that it’s taken me so long to realize that my friend is the answer to every question I’ve ever thought or spoken. He’s the way, the truth and the life. Simply put he’s the tie that binds. I am bound by his love. He is my heart, mind, body and soul. It is written that once he starts a good work in anyone he won’t quit until it is completed.
I couldn’t want a better friend. The bond between us is precious. When I stumble, fall and stray he’s patient, and his forgiveness sublime. I now call my friend Jesus, who is Lord and Savior of my life.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” Lamentations 3:22-26
