Barak’s sandalled foot stomped down on the blade of the fallen scimitar. The dots dilated in horror as the point of Barak’s sword almost rested at his throat. The angel’s eyes mirrored itself in the gleaming edge as two sapphire flames. His visage appeared grim; hardened.
“You will be held until judgement comes for you.”
The words were spoken without malice, uttered out of grim duty. Barak upended his sword in an instant. Both hands held he pommel of the down turned blade above the demon. He cringed, flattening itself away from the deadly tip. The demon yelped when it descended into the earth beside him. The ground opened, revealing open manacled dungeons against one side of the chasm. Frantic protests for release came from a single line of millions of Anak demons chained to the wall.
“Enough,” shouted Barak, instantly lulling them into silence.
He stepped back to allow the demon to stand, but the fallen one rose to his knees with his back to the precipice.
“It will do you no good to beg. When you opposed God, your choice was everlasting.”
The demon suddenly, guffawed, tittered and then gave way to raucous laughter.
“Your imprisonment is upon you and yet you laugh?”
The laughter subsided, but the Anak still retained his smirk.
“Of course I do. You angels are so stupid. I may be the last father of the Nephilim, but good and evil will go on. That is the only thing that is everlasting.”
He began to laugh again. Barak kicked him in the middle of the chest, cutting short his mirth with a squawk, slamming him against the wall of the last empty cell, twenty feet away. The manacles rose and darted like striking snakes, snapping shut over his wrists. Barak continued to watch as he snatched his sword from the earth. The ground began to close.
“It seems demon, that you have no idea of what is everlasting. Good and evil? Evil will come to an end, but as for Heaven and Hell… ”
The ground continued to close, becoming a crack a finger’s breadth wide.
“… That is the only true eternity,” he said as the earth closed.
