The snow falls thick and fast.
I sit beside the fireside,
I dread tomorrow’s task.
Shoveling snow no end in sight,
To free the car and truck.
So I may get to work on time,
But phew! I have no luck.
More hours of sweat oh woe is me,
Whenever can I rest?
My nose is cold my fingers stiff,
How very much I’m stressed!
While napping in my easy chair,
Ole man winter blows.
The snow amasses deep again,
More shoveling, oh no!
In the morning I arise,
Look out my window pane.
The world is white and glistening,
Snow covers yard and lane.
On the road cars slip and slide,
Accidents all around.
At last I make it to my job,
But no one can be found.
It seems the boss has canceled work,
He said there’s too much snow.
I could have stayed in bed asleep,
If he had let me know.
Back in my car I’m heading home,
What do you think I see?
A car is sliding down a hill,
It crashes into me.
Phew! That was close, I thank God
It could have been much worse.
The tires spin, they’re stuck in snow,
More shoveling of course.
I make it home walk toward the door,
My neighbor yells hello.
She holds a shovel in the air,
Asks, Help me clear the snow?
Oh yes I’d love to help you out,
I’ve nothing else to do.
I labor on for hours it seems,
Until the job is through.
I’m home once more where I can rest,
I wipe my brow of sweat.
Relaxing in my chair I ask,
Phew! Is it spring yet?
