Leaping from earth to the Heavenly place,
A miracle span, red with blood
From one Man who was also God.
Since Time’s first dawn the story trace,
To see what—justly—shouldn’t be;
A plan uplifting my stained soul’s face,
A home for me eternally.
He took on Him my world of sin
And plumbed unfathomed depths of pain
He bled, my filthy self to win,
Poured out His own, my life to gain.
Though I was battered, soiled and used
He took me to His tender heart;
The mighty One I once abused
Won’t let me go, nor from me part.
He compassed me within His death
And though the toll I can’t repay,
I’ll love Him to my final breath
And through rejoicing ever-day.
Pillared with mercy, anchored in grace,
Leaping from earth to the Heavenly place,
Triumph incarnate, scattering night,
Sets my heart free with perpetual Light.
