MARY'S JOURNEY
Freelance Writer Lupie Riley
Thought: In the month ahead were nearing the most sacred time of the year. Two thousand years ago Jehovah God entered the mainstream of humanity through the natural birth process. his name was to be called Jesus "SAVIOR". He came with a mission. Sinless, he was to provide salvation, restoration and victory over death through his bodily sacrifice on the cross. Mankind's relationship with Jehovah was broken by the disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve. Their rebellion resulted in ushering in sin and death to all living things. The deed to planet earth was relinquished to the dark power, Satan. Coming King Jesus will claim that deed and restore Earth to His original plan.
Mary's journey: Jewish custom in those days allowed girls to be married at a very young age due to responsibilities and and vigorous religious training. At the age of 14 their maturity level was around 18 years of age. As a teen Mary took on the arduous task of traveling up to 90 miles on her way to Bethlehem ready to deliver her newborn riding on the back of a bony donkey or camel. Trekking over the rugged terrain, hills and valleys, hot sand, cold nights while sleeping under the stars, the journey took up to 4-6 days to reach her destination. She took with her a meager supply of provisions consisting of bread, dried fruit, figs, dates, fresh meat and milk from their livestock. Her blanket for her infant was proposed to be rags the shepherds used to cleanse the sacrificial lambs that were offered in the temple rituals. Was this a prophetic insight as to the future that awaited for this special Christmas baby?
When the Angel first brought the message to Mary that she was chosen to bring the Christ child into the world her answer should be what flows from the heart of every believer "I am the Lord's servant and I am willing to do what ever he wants". It's not our ability God desires but our availability to abandon ourselves to his will and purpose. Maranatha
Prayer: Father God, Mary paved the way for the right attitude I should have when you call out my name. "Yes, Lord, I'm available, use me". Thank you Father for this valuable lesson in obedience. Amen
Verse: I Tim. 3:16 " It is quite true that the way to live a godly life is not an easy matter. But the answer lies in Christ, who came to earth as a man, was proved spotless and pure in his Spirit, was served by angels, was preached among the nations, was accepted by men everywhere and was received up again to his glory in heaven."
