SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING
Freelance Writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Once a year a holiday comes around that we call Thanksgiving. It allows us to reflect back on all those things in life that we can express our gratitude to the Lord. Scripture tells us it's like a sacrifice to God for who He is and the work He does through His mercy and grace. As I reflect back on just a few short weeks I see His hand of grace at work. I was recently diagnosed with vascular inflammation from an auto immune disease and spent the last four days with three prednisone infusions ( total of 3,000 mg) and one chemo type ( 6 to 8 hrs) with one more to go in two weeks. The Lord has surrounded me with two compassionate and professional Dr's, nurses, loving family and friends whose prayers he has heard on my behalf.
Miracles: The kidney biopsy surgery took five minutes with no pain before or after. It did expose the problem and my rheumatologist put me on a radical treatment program that has been quite successful for auto immune diseases the last ten years. The surgeons name was the same as my kidney doctor and the sweet young nurses birthday that attended to me was the same as mine. Next came the three prednisone infusions with a young man drawing my blood and an office clerk who both had the names of my family members. Following those remarkable revelations from the Lord I was able to get assistance from a very busy Angel person who used her break time to process and approve all the paperwork to cover for my co-pays. How could I ever doubt that God has his hand in all these miracles that surrounded me. Everyday should be a day of gratitude for the love God has for us not only for sending us a Savior but offering forgiveness and a new life (immortality) to all who by faith believe in who He is and what He's done for us. Let's not offer these praises up to the Father of Lights just once a year but every day that he grants us breath and life. Maranatha
Prayer: Father God, there are no words in my vocabulary that can express the gratitude I have for your presence in my life. You are the light of my world; my strength, my guide as I put my trust in you no matter what road it takes me down. I have your promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me and that is enough to keep my heart quiet and at peace. Amen
Verse: Psalms 50:14 "Offer to God the sacrifice of Thanksgiving; and fulfill your vows to the most High. Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will strengthen you and you shall glorify me."
