Behold the tree, strong and lush
Contrasting beautifully with it’s background a visual rush
It does not complain about being alone
But it grasps hold on life although others would not be prone
It’s roots grasping rock penetrating crevice or crack
Tall and proud it stands despite any lack
It’s lush green leaves set in beauty rare
Standing out against the rock so bare
Yet thrive it does and live it will
When circumstances are hard it grows stronger still
We seldom see the determination of a tree
As it grows high on a ledge, a wonder for all to see
We should ponder these things and begin to look within
Should we complain about the patch of ground we are in?
Would that tree seem as elegant if surrounded by forest?
No it’s beauty shines more because of where it does rest
The aridness of the rock, the scarcity of soil
The harshness its growth will not foil
It will grow taller stronger you see
Because it has grown through adversity!
