TITLE: Failure No More By Mamie Zook 03/02/04 |

As I stared at the test paper in my hand, I knew the feeling of failure. Just one more point and I would have passed. This was half of my grade for this class.
The sadness was taking over. I was feeling guilty for not having stayed home to study more. I was trying to reason with myself as to why I chose not to stay home. At that time it had been very important for me to be with my friends. I was not like them. I required more time to retain information. It came easy for them. I had struggled my whole life with comprehending bookwork. But yet, knowing that this was a crucial test, I still made a bad decision. Now I was the one to reap what I had sown.
I wanted to put the blame on my friends but I knew deep down that I was the one and no one else. I did not like the feeling of looking stupid in front of them. They were all laughing and kidding around and there I stood with paper in hand.
Just this one time, I had honestly thought that I could do such little studying. Where was my mind? Probably on going out and having a few laughs and fun.
Now I would have to talk to Mrs. Robinson and see if there was anything to do to make extra points toward my grade. She would ask me how could I do so badly. I would have to face her with what, a lie or the truth? She could read me like a book. I was not good at trying to make up stories.
As I turned to go back into school, I knew this would never happen again. I would let this be a lesson from now on to always do what must be done and then if there is time, then and only then, could I go and have fun…
