Sounds easy enough. Many of us are good with directions, or at least driving directions. We're at the wheel and in control. Who doesn't like to be in control, right?
We may be driving along our road of life in the drivers seat, fully in control. We navigate our way thinking we are on the right path. Then one day it hits us, do we know where we are going? Who's directions have we been following anyway?
Too many times we may find ourselves making choices or choosing directions with our mind or hearts, instead of from the spirit deep within. We take the wheel and drive onward, turning the way we think ‘we' should go. Then one day we realize that we are lost, maybe we've traveled this road before, or maybe we've gone in a complete circle. At that point, we again must realize that we cannot navigate the storms of life alone.
Sometimes, we may even wait too long and drive right into a dark, evil place that seems to trap us. Hopefully, it is then that we realize the wheel that drives us through our lives belongs to God. God is in control, not us. He is the master navigator of our lives. He knows our purpose and just how perfectly we can live for Him. Are you ready to give up your drivers seat and let God take the wheel?
Reflection: Do you feel like you take full control over your life, direction, or decisions? How often do you surrender to God and let Him navigate your life? Do you prayerfully consider your decisions before making them?
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help us surrender our lives to you. Help us to remember that you, our almighty Father in Heaven, are the one in control. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
