TITLE: The Ultimate Designer

“Why are you doing the mail that way?” Mary Joe asked. “Because this is the way I have want to do it,” I replied. Well I am going to see Helen about that. You should not do it that way. Mary Joe had me a little perturbed by now. “Go and tell Helen. What is she going to do about it? I don’t care if she is the director or not!” I thought to myself. At that point Anna butted into the situation. “What’s going on Mary Joe?” she asked as if I were glass. I don’t like the way she is handling the mail. She should put who gets what into separate stacks so that it would be easier for her to distribute. “Well I agree with Mary Joe,” Anna stated to me. “Well I don’t!” I replied staring them both in the face. They immediately went marching out of the office and down the hall to the director’s office.

Helen returned with Anna and Mary Joe. She stood about four feet nine, cute as a button. “What’s going on here? Mary Joe says you are not doing something correct?” I looked at all three of them like they were the three stooges. “They have got to be joking,” I thought. I just wished a big hole would have appeared in the floor and swallowed them up. It bothered me that Mary Joe and Anna were being so petty. And then to top it off, they found it necessary to involve the director as if she had nothing better to do. I had to ask God to keep me grounded. I knew that I had to adhere to my physical authority but I also knew that what I was doing was not wrong. God was the ultimate designer.

“Listen,” I began to explain. I have a system that I have created. It’s done in a timely manner and I have never gotten one complaint. I have made it so I can make my own distinctions of how this can work for me. I have taken out the time to create this, admire it and now I have mastered it. It is my design and the end results are going to be the same as Mary Joe’s, Anna’s or anyone else’s. Helen slightly hung her head looking at me over the rim of her glasses. “You have a point. It’s fine with me as long as it gets done,” she said.

There can be fifty people who are given a sheet of paper. They are told to make a design. Each design may be the same but it will be different because of the uniqueness of that individual. However, the end results are all the same. It’s a design of one’s creativity through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has designed us in his image, yet we are all different. However, the end result of his design is that we are designed to serve him.
