Victories are forgotten as the hours pass. The slain figures lie silent beneath the grass. The warriors, having fought so hard to bring joy and laughter to the hearts and souls of the child commanders, are cast aside.
Thoughts of them are replaced with bicycles and video games. The modern wonders captivate the children for hours on end and blind them to passing years. As teens they drive through town in search of love as well as that certain passion of life, which peaks their senses.
The time comes when they themselves become the soldiers, defending the honor of love they have found in a young woman, as another tries to extinguish the flames they have ignited within her heart. Memories of childhood battles remain locked away as the war of life rages on.
Maturity falls into place as adulthood begins. Families gather for weddings then births. What a glorious day when sons are born. Proud fathers go in search of the perfect toy to bring joy and happiness to the hearts of their child. They walk the isles of cap guns, water pistols, board games, and cars with nothing filling the need within.
Along the next isle, a bucket catches their interest. A tear rolls down their cheek as they stare through the clear plastic. Memories of youth return with a smile as they present their gifts. Once again mighty warriors are born, as toy soldiers go out to play.
