However, God chose Solomon to use the pattern and carry out the building process.
So King David said to Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. God, even my God, will be with you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”(1 Chronicles 28:19,20)
Looking back upon circumstances in our own lives, we can begin to appreciate the design that God was working in and through us for a finished product. A product just right to be used for his honor and glory. Trials and tribulations, as well as blessings, have formed the pattern of truth He desires in us, temples which are designed, by Him, for Him.
Those of us who desire to write, who have been chosen by Him to do so, and have surrendered to the call, know the value of God’s hand upon us as we write.
I have read and heard much ado about writers having a “muse”. ( a guiding spirit, or source of inspiration - The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition)
I’ve never quite figured out if I have one when I write from “my head”, articles such as personal opinions, memoirs, or other non-spiritual material. God gave man a wonderful tool when He created our brain. I believe that when we observe, see, hear, or read something, our brain is like a computer, or vice-versa. Input equals output.
Yet I have discovered that when it comes to truth and spiritual writing that God designed a different avenue for supplying words or messages to be written. If I write only from “my head”, the power behind the message is lacking, without substance. But... when I am still, quiet and listening, and I pray for divine guidance to receive what He wants me to write... at this point I have a muse, and He has a name, that being The Holy Spirit! Then comes revelation of truth and power to the intended message. Words come quickly and easily, flowing freely.. No “head” writing until the body of the message is received. If I feel led to insert corresponding ancedotes or scripture, then it is done. I love the avenue God chose for His messages to be written. Powerful!
So we, like Solomon, should heed King David’s advice, when it comes to answering God’s call to write. It’s as if he is also saying to us, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. God, even my God, will be with you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” Having this promise, our written words will glorify God and be of just service in His saving work as we await Jesus’ return.
