was ,but after 11 years it wasn’t that easy. He had already lost so much his job, his wife,
his son. He had lost his whole life, what was there to live for anymore? He got up from
the park bench knocking over his satchel. A book and a few pencils fell out. As he
stooped to pick them up he read the cover of the book. How did he get this? He must
have gotten it from rehab, but how did it get into his book bag he usually just kept
resumes in there. As he went to slip it back he ran his hand over the leather surface. “O
God,” Devon Jones shook his head. How could he talk to God now, after all these years,
all the people he had hurt, all the lives he had put at stake. A tear slipped from the former
gang members softened eye. “If your there,” he paused “God I can’t do this by myself, I
know I don’t deserve, but I need your help.”
Catharine Sanders stroked her daughters frail arm. She leaned back, exhausted,
Morgan was finally asleep. She couldn’t even remember the last time she had gotten a
good nights sleep, or a decent meal in that case. She tried to close her eyes but was to
worried to actually fall into a slumber. She opened her carpet bad and examined the
books she had grabbed off the shelf; Mother goose, Doctor Suess ,she stopped at the last
one, it was the Children’s Bible she had given Morgan for her fifth birthday. She smiled,
remembering the days they would sit on the bed and read the stories over and over. Her
smiling face turned into a grieven one, those were the days before leukemia. Morgan was
only seven when they found out she had the disease. She started to cry once again, it
seemed that was all she was able to do these days. She felt so useless as she hugged the
tiny bible, “O Lord, So young Jesus she’s so young. She’s always been in the cradle of
your arms, Morgan follows you like a baby duck. Its me Lord, I strayed from your ways, I
am the unfaithful, it should have been me.” “She’s yours Lord,” the tears were pouring by
now. “And so am I.”
Devon walked into his apartment, just as the phone rang. “Mr. Jones, my name is
Bill Samules, we have looked over your resume. It seems that you posses great talent
although in the experience category you seem to be lacking.” Devon frowned, where had
he heard this before. “ Is it correct that you do have you GED?” “Yes Sir, that is correct”
“Well Devon why don’t you come in on Monday for a personal interview. There are no
guarantees but we like what we see.” “ Thank you, Thank you very much sir.” “ No, thank
you Devon.” Devon was exstatic this was the chance he had been waiting for! He fell to
his knees, he knew just who to thank.
Catharine awoke to a hand on her shoulder, she had been dreaming the most
wonderful dream. “ Mrs. Sanders, sorry to wake you but I thought you would like to
know.” Catharine knew by the look on the woman’s face, “ We’ve found a match. His
mother was amitted two years ago in the general hospital on West boulevard. He has
agreed to do the transplant” Catharine cried again but this time because, “ Her baby
would be ok.”
Matthew 11:28-30 says,
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke
upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
John 11:35 says,
“Jesus wept.”
Jesus hurts when we hurt he wants to help us all we have to do is ask.
