It wasn't mine to claim,
I didn't earn it, couldn't have,
It shouldn't have born my name.
If I were to be rewarded,
It wouldn't be with a prize,
But my reward should really be
Eternal pains and cries.
I'm not sure how I won it,
A medal shouldn't be pinned on me,
But somehow I obtained it,
Someone else paid my entry fee.
If I were to get my just desserts,
I'd be burning and dying forever,
But instead, I've been declared victorious,
Because of someone's selfless endeavor.
Rewards are really funny things,
They usually come from hard work,
But when it comes to my sad, sick soul,
I've pretty much been a jerk.
All I can say is thank you,
And all I can do is tell
How a God who loved me did all the hard work,
So I'm rewarded with absence from hell.
