Just be prepared to listen to him cajole and cry.
And he flatly refuses a harness or collar.
He won’t stop pesting no matter how much you holler.
He’ll eat you out of house and home and all your larder.
Try to squelch his craving, he’ll just gnaw all the harder.
He’ll rob you of any joy you may hope to find here.
This pet is no favorite, all your friends will make clear.
A pet surely nobody ever wanted at all…
If he turns up missing, don’t even bother to call.
If he is up a tree and stuck out on a limb,
You won’t ever see the fire chief rescuing him.
Oh, but this pet loves to be the hub of attention.
He gloats and prances about for virtuous mention.
He loves to be pampered and hugged close to the heart.
Once he has a grip on you, he’ll hardly depart!
He won’t stand idle, he’ll never be a wall flower.
Just to hint his cause, speaks quite a volume of power.
His greatest pleasure in his wretched life, I’ll confide,
Keeping matters in turmoil, all stirred up, is his pride.
How to recognize this pet from afar in a crowd?
You can be sure it won’t be hard, for crying out loud!

Don’t ever add fuel to the fire for my pet, Peeve!
