Wow! That wind is really picking up. It’s not often you see trees bent over horizontally. That’s all right with me though because I know what is at the end of the drive. The rain began to pelt mercilessly against the windshield. Hail started ricocheting off the hood. My wipers were working overtime and still I couldn’t see through the pouring rain. Sweat beads began to form on my forehead. This is getting really bad. Knowing of a pullover just up the road, my mind was set to parking and waiting until the storm passed over or died down below the dangerous level. Slowing down to a slug’s crawl, I began to pray. “Lord just let me get to the pullover.” It’s amazing how much God means to a person when they are in trouble. Any other time, religious thoughts were the farthest thing from my mind. Now I was trying to remember bible verses I had learned as a child. Other thoughts filled my mind as I neared the pullover and saw that it was packed full of vehicles waiting out the storm. The only thing to do was keep going. I rounded the curve and it was as if the rain switch had been flipped to off. The rain had completely stopped. I laughed as I sped down the virtually empty highway. All the people that had pulled over were still wondering when the storm would end. If they had just rounded the curve they would have known what I had found out. Should I go back and tell them? Naahh! Let them sit. I am on my way to see my true blue.
It was years later and a changed heart until I was able to see the spiritual lesson that I had experienced. Life is filled with storms. Rich, poor, young, old, red, yellow, male, or female. It doesn’t matter. We all face them. How we handle those trials can effect our lives for years to come. Take a lesson from a love struck young boy in a fearful rainstorm. Keep on going. It may just be that around the curve the sun is shining.
