Maybe it the gloom of the clouds
Or maybe I couldn't run and play
With the sunshine warming my shoulders
But as I grew I learned to cherish
The gift of a rainy day
It's a way to help me look inward
To find some solace and peace inside
I am thankful forthe gift of rain
I think of being washed clean
I think of the rain of mercy
That God sends to wash away
My pain or sadness or sin
So the rain is really a chance
To refresh and renew and allow new life
To blossom and spring up from the earth-
A chance for me to become new in Christ
For the rain is cooling
And the rain is healing
And the rain is comforting
And the rain is refreshing
Just as God's love is for us:
Bringing us hope out of despair
Comfort out of unrest
Healing out of pain
Joy out of sorrow.
