TITLE: GOD's School of Life-long Learning By Linda C. Smith 09/05/04 |

Just drifting peacefully, fancy free from earthly cares.
I was so comfortably warm, protected, and well fed.
A life of ease with no grave burdens upon my head.
All of a sudden my little world began to change.
I heard a “who-o-osh” and I started to feel very strange.
Not much later, I was being pressed from every side,
Propelled down a dark wet tunnel, with no place to hide.
The sounds that were once muffled became harsh to my ears.
The commotion all around awakened inane fears.
The blazing lights nearly blinded my sensitive eyes.
My heart beat madly, my lungs burst with piteous cries.
Then a shout…”it’s a girl”! Gentle hands now cradle me
“Welcome to GOD’s School of Life, you sweet little baby!”
Ah, GOD’s School was so unlike the life I’d known before.
I tried so hard to stay awake; that was such a chore!
When awake, before long I cried, at the slightest whim.
As time passed, I learned to laugh, not yet aware of sin.
Over the months, I learned to speak the names of all I see
And next, I learned, the world does not revolve around me.
Years passed, I’m off to learn of all the other world’s view.
But soon my heart opened to the truths of GOD’s world, too.
Adolescence! I’m disturbed by every petty thing.
Teenage years plagued me with emotion’s unstable sting.
I awakened to GOD’s word, which causes me to grow.
Worldly wisdom then threatened the fitfull inner glow.
Prayer helped right and wrong become more defined in my mind,
And guides me faithfully as I seek HIS will to find.
I foresee graduation, though testing’s far from done.
At School of Life-long Learning, the Principal, GOD’s SON…
My diploma in HIS nail-pierced hand, awaits with glee
When at last my course complete, all Heaven welcomes me!
