TITLE: THE PATH I WALK By Jerry Lyn Luckie 05/17/04 |
|
I sit alone in the night, the dark consumes my soul
Taking the high road is such a lonely place sometimes
When all I am and all I believe is questioned by others
Who cannot understand my heart and the depth of my soul
Making choices that I feel have been the best for my life
Yet still, being judged so harshly for a forgiving spirit
Causes me doubt and the pain leaves wretching emptiness
I need your wisdom for the past, your courage for the future
For now the foundation is being shaken of all that I am
Others that cling to hurt turned to bitterness and resentment
Threatens to destroy the spirit you have given me
Living my life with love and forgiveness at the center
The journey has been long and hard, but I know it matters
That each experience of my life has drawn me nearer to you
And I need the confidence to know I can endure the trials
So that tomorrow will be brighter because of the sacrifices
For you are the God who never leaves, my constant hope in trouble
And in each moment of suffering, I know you are working all together for good
Touch my heart with your healing hand and guide me on the path I need
To be your servant in this world, overcoming grief and despair with your love and your forgiveness—at the center of my life—my comforter, healer, refuge, friend
