It is in the darkness of the wounds of the soul and the times of betrayal, if we can look up to God during the ripping of the soul and still say I love you God and I worship you, this touches His heart and gets His attention. He is looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.
The truth of the matter is that we will go through hard times, it is what we do in those times that makes the
difference in the out come of our lives. When all is going well, it is easy to praise God, but when the crisis hits, that is the true test of character. Will we stand and still proclaim that He is sovereign?
I love the passage of scripture in Habakkuk 3:17,18; which says; "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls--Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation."
Those two verses are the key to knowing how to worship, to joy in the God of our salvation. Worship is a choice, because it is a choice, we can choose to worship God from our position in Him and not from the position of our circumstances. The word joy in Greek is gil (geel) it means; To joy, rejoice, be glad, it contains the suggestion of "dancing for joy", of leaping for joy. In some of my roughest times I have made worship my choice, but at other times I have blamed God, the world and the devil. That only leads to bitterness.
Jesus gave us the highest example of worship, His secret to worship was doing the will of the Father. Seeing what He was going through from a position of worship, not from a position of His circumstances. For the joy set before Him, He endured the suffering of the cross. That gives us great hope, because He came through in joy and triumph, we can to.
